Now, two years after the death of one of the United States' most feared adversaries, analysts, advisors, and leaders have begun to reflect on the individual and societal struggles that were overcome during the hunt for Bin Laden.

The 2013 Aspen Security Forum will proudly feature a screening of the HBO documentary Manhunt, an Official Selection of the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. Directed by Greg Barker and based on Peter Bergen's Manhunt: The Ten Year Search for Bin Laden From 9/11 to Abbottabad, the documentary tells the riveting story of the CIA's secret war against Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda.

Manhunt forgoes the glitz and glamour of Zero Dark Thirty to deliver a compelling story of the decade-long search for the United States' most wanted man. Through interviews and collected news clips, Greg Barker captures the hearts and minds of the men and women who dedicated themselves to finding Bin Laden. While initially focused on "the sisterhood," a team of female analysts who first began tracking Bin Laden in the early 1990's, Manhunt expands to include field agents, directors, and military personnel to illustrate the evolution of interest in Bin Laden. The result is a documentary that is dense with emotionally-charged issues, including the moral battles fought over "enhanced interrogation" techniques in U.S. operated "black-sites."

Following our screening of Manhunt, Director and Producer Greg Barker and Manhunt Author Peter Bergen will discuss how the war against Al Qaeda and other national security challenges are portrayed in the media with CBS News' Dan Raviv.

We look forward to seeing you in Aspen,

The article, titled, "China's Cyber Thievery Is National Policy—And Must Be Challenged", elaborates upon the dangers Chinese cyber espionage poses to the U.S. and how China, as a nation that is still in the process of bridging its immense inequality gap and is still in the process of implementing development programs to help boost the standard of life for its populace, sees stealing innovations from competitors as more efficient than developing new technology on its own.

"The bottom line is this: China has a massive, inexpensive work force ravenous for economic growth. It is much more efficient for the Chinese to steal innovations and intellectual property—the source code of advanced economies—than to incur the cost and time of creating their own. They turn those stolen ideas directly into production, creating products faster and cheaper than the U.S. and others."

Chertoff, McConnell, and former Deputy Secretary for Defense William Lynn recommend that the U.S. recognize the long-term and detrimental effects of cyber attacks. Likewise, the U.S. should invest more in science, technology, engineering, and math education to counter that of competing environments. Lastly, American corporations must also do their part and identify and report incidents of cyber theft, while also boosting up their protection through the enhancement of employee computer skills.

Former LAPD Chief of Police William Bratton confirmed for 2012

<itunes:author>Felipe Umana</itunes:author>

Former LAPD Chief of Police and former Commissioner for Boston and New York City, William Bratton, is confirmed to speak at the Aspen Security Forum 2012.

Coordinator for Counterterrorism Daniel Benjamin confirmed for 2012

<itunes:author>Felipe Umana</itunes:author>

The Department of State's Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Ambassador-at-Large, Daniel Benjamin, is confirmed to speak at the Aspen Security Forum 2012.

Pakistan Ambassador to the U.S. Sherry Rehman confirmed for 2012

<itunes:author>Felipe Umana</itunes:author>

Pakistani Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Shehrbano "Sherry" Rehman, is confirmed to speak at the Aspen Security Forum 2012.

ASF Speaker Admiral Eric T. In a recent article on Wired.com, former SOCOM Commander Admiral Eric T. Olson discusses these issues , as he did at last year’s Aspen Security Forum. It is regions like these, Olson says - as opposed to those that are “well-lit" and are more "stable [and] orderly" - that capture the attention of elite U.S. Special Operations Forces. Likewise, it is these places where the “lights are off,” Olson says, where the most dangerous groups are hardest at work.

The visit aims to improve relations between Kabul and Washington, and also serves as a stepping stone for future peace talks with the Taliban. Grossman’s meeting with the Afghan President should usher in the blessings needed to commence negotiations with the Taliban.

Marc Grossman has assured to the Afghan President, Hamid Karzai, that peace talks with Taliban representatives will not be held without the Afghan government's presence. Before any discourse is held, Grossman also urges the Taliban to "dissociate entirely from international terrorism."

The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Hina Rabbani, is expected to invite Mr. Grossman to Islamabad next month in order to " 'revive' normal relations" with the United States.
