• Eric Schmitt: U.S. Counterterrorism Strategy Uses Proxies

    Long before President Obama’s speech on Wednesday indicated a shift in U.S. counterterrorism strategy, American special forces were changing their tactics to combat terrorism in an increasingly multi-polar world. Eric Schmitt of The New York Times reports that while American SEAL teams were often assigned to missions involving high-value targets, the Pentagon has long turned to local proxies to battle insurgents abroad.
