Biography
Matthew G. Olsen became the Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) in August 2011 after Senate confirmation.

NCTC’s mission is to lead the effort to combat terrorism by integrating and analyzing all terrorism information and coordinating the government’s strategic counterterrorism efforts.

Prior to becoming NCTC’s director, Mr. Olsen served as NSA General Counsel; acting head of the DOJ National Security Division; Counselor to the Attorney General; and head of the Guantanamo Review Task Force.  He also was Special Counsel to the FBI Director and served for twelve years as a federal prosecutor in Washington, D.C.
