What is the Aspen Security Forum?
The Aspen Security Forum brings together in Aspen each summer senior current and former government officials from all of the relevant security agencies; a number of foreign officials; leading thinkers; and nationally noted print and broadcast journalists to discuss and debate the issues of the day in the fields of counterterrorism in particular and national security in general. Who should attend the Forum?
The Aspen Security Forum is the premier “go-to” event for insiders, and would-be insiders, in the field of national security. This often includes, but is not limited to, former government officials; retired members of the military; industry insiders and venture capitalists; non-government agency representatives; members of the press; and concerned citizens. When do days start and end?
Generally speaking, all days at the Aspen Security Forum begin with breakfast at 8:00 AM. Programmed sessions begin promptly at 9:00 AM and continue with scheduled breaks until 6:30 PM. Back to top

When will the agenda be released to the public?
The agenda for the 2017 Aspen Security Forum will be released to the public on our website at the beginning of July 2017, though speaker lists will be posted on a rolling basis in early 2017. Back to top

Can I obtain a list of attendees attending the Forum?
The Aspen Security Forum does not release the names of attendees to the public. Forum-goers will receive a list of attendees in their on-site registration packet on July 19, 2017. Back to top

What is the dress code for the Aspen Security Forum?
Attire throughout the Forum is what we call “Aspen casual,” which means no ties for men, and jackets are not required, though some may wear sport coats, especially as the temperature cools in the evening. One can find a wide range of dress—khakis are common, and shirts vary from typical button downs to Hawaiian shirts. You really can’t go wrong, as long as you don’t wear a suit! Back to top

What is the weather like in Aspen?
Temperatures in Aspen range from an average of 78 degrees during the day to 63 degrees at night. Afternoon rainstorms and thunderstorms are common. The Aspen Meadows Resort provides umbrellas in the event of rain, but we recommend that Forum-goers bring their own in case of inclement weather. Back to top

Will the Forum be televised, streamed, or recorded?
The Aspen Security Forum will be live-streamed from our website for those who wish to join us in Aspen, but are unable to do so. Please visit our Video Library to access archived videos from previous fora. Back to top

Will there be events at the Forum open to the public?

No, there are no rooms available for private meetings during the Aspen Security Forum. Back to top

How can I mitigate the effects of altitude sickness?
At 7,980 feet above sea level, altitude sickness is common health concern for visitors to Aspen. We recommend that travelers drink as water, as fluids will help your body adjust. It is also highly recommended that attendees avoid alcohol and caffeine on their first few days in Aspen. For more information on altitude sickness, please visit the Aspen Valley Hospital’s website. Does registration include hotel and airfare?
No, registration does not include hotel and airfare. Attendees must assume the costs of their travel to and from Aspen, as well as their stay throughout the Forum. Back to top

How can I get around Aspen during the Forum?
The Aspen Meadows Resort is easily accessible by forumgoers staying in downtown Aspen. The Aspen Security Forum provides a scheduled shuttle servicing stops at most major hotels in the downtown area. The town of Aspen participates in WE-Cycle, a state-of-the-art, fully automated bike system that includes 100 bikes available to rent at 14 stations 24/7. For attendees who wish to walk to the Forum, the Aspen Meadows Resort is a short walk from downtown Aspen. Back to top

Will there be food served during the Forum?
The Aspen Security Forum provides attendees with breakfast and lunch, in addition to a wide variety of hors d’oeuvres and drinks offered throughout the Forum. Vegetarian options are always served throughout the Forum. Back to top

What does the cost of my registration include?
Your registration guarantees you to access to all programming, receptions, and events included in the official ASF agenda, in addition to meals and snacks provided during Forum programming. Back to top

When and where do I pick up my Forum badge and registration packet?
Attendees may proceed to the Aspen Meadows campus to pick up their registration packets on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. Registration packets will be available for pick-up until Saturday, July 22. Back to top

What is included in my registration packet?
In addition to a Forum badge, attendees will receive an official Aspen Security Forum agenda, a list of attendees, and an Aspen Security Forum bag. Back to top

What is your cancellation policy?
Registrants who cancel before 5pm MT/7pm ET June 29, 2016 will receive an 80% refund. Registrants who cancel from 5pm MT/7pm ET June 29, 2016, through July 13, 2016, will receive a 50% refund. Any registrant who cancels after 5pm MT/7pm ET July 13, 2016 will forfeit the entire registration fee. Please note that dates and policies may change year to year.Back to top
