Biography
The Hon. Jane Harman is a former nine-term congresswoman from California who served as ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee for four years after 9/11. Following her time in Congress, she became the first woman president and CEO of the Wilson Center, where she is currently president emerita. She was most recently chair of the bipartisan, congressionally-mandated Commission on the National Defense Strategy and sits on multiple government advisory boards, including PIAB, NASA, and DHS. Harman is co-chair of Freedom House, a trustee of the Aspen Institute, a Presidential Scholar at the University of Southern California, and a Carnegie Distinguished Fellow at Columbia University’s Institute for Global Politics. Her book, "Insanity Defense: Why Our Failure to Confront Hard National Security Problems Makes Us Less Safe," was published by St. Martin’s Press in 2021.
