Ng Eng Hen

Dr. Ng was first elected as a Member of Parliament of the Bishan-Toa Payoh Constituency in 2001 and subsequently re-elected for the same constituency in 2006, 2011, and 2015. He was Deputy Leader of the House from 2007 to 2011 and Leader from 2011 to 2015. Dr. Ng was Minister for Manpower from 2003 to 2008 and Minister for Education from 2008 to 2011. Concurrently, he was Second Minister for Defence since 2005, before assuming office as Minister for Defence in 2011. Dr. Ng was conferred France's national award of Officer in the Order of Légion d'Honneur (Legion of Honour) in 2017.
