Ambassador Mohamed Tawfik presented his credentials to President Barack Obama at the White House on September 19, 2012. A career diplomat, Ambassador Tawfik served as Ambassador to Lebanon, Australia, and non-resident Ambassador to New Zealand, Western Samoa, Fiji, Papua New Guinea and the Marshall Islands. Previous assignments include Washington, DC and Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva. Educated in both Egypt and France, Ambassador Tawfik holds a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from Cairo University and a Masters Degree in International Organizations’ Law, Université de Paris XI. Ambassador Tawfik is married and has two sons.
